About us
Our Story
Established in 2006, KDCROP Farms is a vegetable, herb, fruit, starter plant, and egg farm in Chaplin, CT. Our farm uses sustainable, non-chemical, no-till techniques to grow our produce and reduce our carbon footprint by mostly using hand tools, and keeping our soil happy! KDCROP Farms also produces a line of value-added preserved pickles, relish, and salsa that are farm raised, handmade, and naturally grown in the Last Green Valley of CT for the garden fresh farm to table experience. From the profits, we donate a portion to local elementary schools in Windham County.
Meet the people behind your food
The prelude to farming started after serving in the Peace Corps in Tanzania 1999-2001. Kelly started drawing up plans to create her own farm and nature center. Thanks also to her love for gardening from her father and grandmother, Kelly used all the skills to start the business and carry it through. Her farm has existed for 16 years now. Kelly met her husband to-be in 2004, and got married and started the farm in 2006 with lots of help from her husband, especially being a wiz at figuring out mechanical problems and building structures. Now they are 2 kids strong, have part-time workers, and are mentors to high school programs. It was not easy to start a farm as first generation farmers. Carrying on part-time jobs at a local dairy farm, cheese farm, and UCONN, it wasn’t until 2020 that Kelly decided to go full-time farming to concentrate on the farm and create even more jars of product at CLiCK, a cooperative certified kitchen in Windham, CT.
